ABOUT US

"Al" Naish Moving and Storage was developed in 1917 by Alexander H. Naish Cincinnati, Ohio shortly after he married Frances Sandman in 1914.  In the spring of 1916, Naish purchased his first truck and began hauling papers for the local newspapers.  At that time most household moves were done by way of railroad within the city limits.  Two years later in 1918, Naish purchased his first warehouse in Madisonville behind his own home.  The two-story building offered almost 3,000 square feet of storage space.  This facility also doubled as a shop for Naish's growing boxing and crating business.  Frances continued to handle the business duties while Alex solicited new business.

After World War I, the Cincinnati area was booming and the relocation of key employees to the area was becoming critical for local companies.  Companies like Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati Milling Machine and Union Central Life Insurance had signed with Naish.  In 1925 Naish Moving and Storage was incorporated and the Madisionville house and warehouse were sold and a new location in Oakley was opened.

Alex and Frances got the entire family involved in the business.  Naish's two sons Alexander S. and younger brother Frank began washing and cleaning the trucks in the summers.  When each completed their sophomore year of high school, they began working on local moves.  After World War II, Alex S. and Frank began looking for new safer ways to handle and store household goods.  In the 1950's the industry was looking at the possibility of storing goods in a wooden vault.  Naish saw the potential in this and quickly began using the new way of storage.  With the new "Port-A-Vaults", Naish needed more storage space and a Forest Park, Ohio office was opened.

Frances and Alex retired in 1960 after watching their company grow in 43 years from their dinning room to five warehouse.  Their sons Alex S. and Frank took over control of the company and continued to be a major force in the moving and storage business in the Cincinnati area.  In 1983 the two brothers retired and a new generation took control.

Today, “Al” Naish Moving and Storage is still owned and managed locally, with the same values Alexander H. Naish opened the company with almost 100 years ago, and continue to serve the local Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.
